Shaquille Hines Wins the StatSheet Great West Freshman of the Week - February 18th, 2013

Houston Baptist's Art Bernardi has been chosen as the StatSheet Great West Player of the Week for the week ending February 18th. Shaquille Hines has earned StatSheet's Great West Freshman of the Week. Finally, Ruben Cabrera is StatSheet's Great West 6th Man of the Week. Bernardi tallied respectable numbers with 11 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. The Houston Baptist senior played well in a win against Texas-Pan American.

This is a familiar honor for Art Bernardi, who has been named StatSheet Great West Player of the Week four times. He has also received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Marcel Smith, a sophomore from Houston Baptist. Honorable mention goes to senior Chris Flores from New Jersey Tech. Jesus Delgado was the highest ranking player from Texas-Pan American, finishing sixth.

StatSheet Great West Freshman of the Week: Texas-Pan American's Shaquille Hines

Shaquille Hines averaged 15 minutes of playing time starting both games for Texas-Pan American. His average in shooting (71.0%) topped all Great West freshmen. In a late 79-73 win over Cal State Bakersfield, Hines rang up 5 points and 2 rebounds. Then in a 53-48 loss to Houston Baptist, he added 6 points and 6 rebounds.

This is the second StatSheet Great West Freshman of the Week honor for Shaquille Hines. Dauson Womack from Houston Baptist grabs runner-up. Rob Lewis from Houston Baptist takes honorable mention.

StatSheet Great West 6th Man of the Week: Texas-Pan American's Ruben Cabrera

Senior Ruben Cabrera, a 6-7 forward, averaged 17 minutes over the two games for the Broncs. In the win against Cal State Bakersfield, Cabrera put up 9 points and 5 rebounds. During the loss to Houston Baptist, he racked up 4 points and 2 rebounds.

This is the first time this season that Ruben Cabrera has won the StatSheet Great West 6th Man of the Week. Quentin Bastian, a junior forward from New Jersey Tech, is the runner up. Odera Nweke, a sophomore forward/guard from New Jersey Tech, receives honorable mention. Texas-Pan American has yet to win StatSheet Great West Player of the Week.
