StatSheet's Great West Player of the Week for January 28th goes to Houston Baptist's Art Bernardi. StatSheet's Great West Freshman of the Week is New Jersey Tech's Ky Howard. And last but certainly not least, Odera Nweke from New Jersey Tech takes home StatSheet's Great West 6th Man of the Week.
Bernardi finished first in the Great West in scoring (22.5 pts per game). He also put up a strong showing in rebounding (9.5 per game), shooting (80%), and steals (3.5 per game). The Houston Baptist senior played well in wins versus Missouri-Kansas City and Ecclesia.
Bernardi led the Huskies in scoring and rebounding with 25 points and 8 rebounds in a close 63-61 win over Missouri-Kansas City. That was followed by a team-leading 20 point and 11 rebound performance in a huge 94-40 win over Ecclesia.
This is the first time that Art Bernardi has been named the StatSheet Great West Player of the Week. However, he has received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is Nick Thompson, a senior from Utah Valley University. Honorable mention goes to senior Ryan Woods from New Jersey Tech. Brandon Provost finished sixth and was the highest ranking player from Texas-Pan American.
